Joatinga Beach is one of the most incredible beaches in Rio de Janeiro, it is a hidden paradise. It is a secluded beach that is absolutely worth the effort of getting to! The white sands and calm waters are definitely dreamy and don’t forget the camera as you’ll kick yourself… there are plenty of photo opportunities here. There is also a small beach bar serving alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks – you can really spend the whole day here.
Flamengo Beach is known for being popular with the health and fitness enthusiasts. It’s a very popular beach with the locals and boasts an incredible view of Sugarloaf Mountain. Here you can expect to find sunbathers, fishermen and locals enjoying sports and other activities… and as the sun goes down, the activities continue throughout the night. It’s a wide stretch of beach that is pristine! You don’t want to go home without seeing this beach.
Another hidden treasure in Rio de Janeiro is Grumari Beach which is home to roughly 46 plants that are in danger of extinction. The 2.5km beach is pristine, quiet and simply stunning. With it being practically untouched and a variety of seafood restaurants nearby, it makes a fantastic day trip out when exploring Rio de Janeiro.
