Students advised on working gap years in New Zealand

Young people who are not heading to university this year could use cheap flights to Auckland as a gateway to a working gap year.

Immigration New Zealand has advised students to consider taking advantage of the country's working holiday visa, which allows British citizens to work and travel in the nation for up to 23 months.

The organisation said A-Level students who missed out on a place at their desired university in the UK could gain valuable work experience and boost their CVs by heading to New Zealand for a gap year.

"Even though jobs undertaken on the working holiday visa are temporary, they can help develop important skills and experience for future jobs," said Ross Grigg, regional manager for Immigration New Zealand.

In addition, working holiday visas can be approved in just a few days, making them ideal for people arranging a gap year at the last minute.

Many sports fans will be booking cheap flights to Auckland for the Rugby World Cup, which begins on September 9th. A total of 15 matches will be played in the city, including the opening game and the final on October 23rd.
