Pakistan 'offers a wealth of attractions'

Tourists may have high expectations of cheap flights to Pakistan after one industry commentator described the destination as being of "special interest" to travellers.

Tayyab Nisar Mir, publicity and promotion manager at the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), said it has a number of high-profile attractions and is particularly popular for adventure holidays.

"White-water rafting, wild boar-hunting, mountain and desert jeep, camel and yak safaris, trout fishing and bird watching, are among the ... activities that entice the adventure and nature lovers," he explained.

According to Mr Mir, most holidaymakers visit the Gilgit-Baltistan region if they are hoping to experience an exciting vacation.

He also highlighted Moenjodaro, Harappa, Taxila and Swat as popular with people who are looking to explore Pakistan's rich cultural heritage.

The PTDC states that the northern areas of Pakistan are among the most beautiful in the country, with some of the longest glaciers found outside of the polar regions.
