Passengers who have booked cheap flights to Auckland could find themselves lured by the sights and sounds of Los Angeles after Air New Zealand unveiled plans to introduce more services to link the two cities.
According to the New Zealand Herald, the carrier is set to increase flights to the US destination following news that struggling airline Qantas had been forced to close the route as a cost-cutting measure.
Financial pressures - that are also resulting in job cuts and the early retirement of some members of staff - have resulted in Qantas announcing the services between the two cities will come to an end in May.
Announcing the news, chief executive Alan Joyce, said: "We have a clear strategy for the future based on our strong domestic airline businesses, transforming Qantas International and other business areas."
Earlier this month, Air New Zealand announced the launch of a new advertising campaign introduced with the aim of attracting more visitors from Australia to its native country.
