Passengers who have booked cheap flights to New York in the coming months could enjoy improved services from Virgin Atlantic after the company announced it has created new jobs.
The airline - which was founded by British entrepreneur Richard Branson - is set to recruit 500 new cabin crew members as part of wider expansion plans that will get underway this year.
Based at London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports, the employment opportunities are being introduced for the company's new routes to Cancun and Vancouver, while other long-haul destinations including New York, Las Vegas and Shanghai will be explored.
Speaking to BBC News, Steve Ridgeway - chief executive of Virgin Atlantic - noted that there are some small signs of encouragement within the country's ailing economy and highlighted the fact that many private sector firms are expanding their businesses.
This comes after the company announced it is set to spend £100 million on enhancing its business class services on new Airbus A330-300 aircrafts.
