Individuals who have booked cheap flights to Bangkok in the coming months could be encouraged to hear the country's tourism industry appears to be on the increase.
According to new figures, visitors to the country rose by seven per cent during the first month of 2012, despite worries about extreme weather and tourism threats across the nation.
The statistics - reported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports - highlighted China as the biggest source of visitors, as the country surpassed the all-time number-one contributor Malaysia for the first time.
Thailand recorded over 1.9 million international guests into the nation during January, representing a significant rise from the 1.8 million in the same period of 2011.
News of the increase comes after AirAsia announced the launch of three new services from Bangkok to Trang, Nakhon Phanom and Colombo as part of wider expansion plans.
An airline spokesperson said: "In 2012 we are focused on building our connectivity within Thailand and the region to make sure that people have more options for low-cost travel."
